We have the day off from work and a lot of people go away for a long weekend. This is Memorial Day Weekend, the unofficial start of summer for a lot of places.
I drove by the veterans cemetery in Madison and was happy to see a flag and red flowers at every one of the soldiers white granite headstones.

I’m headed for Nashville this afternoon for the Tin Pan South festival. This is the week that Nashville honors the songwriters. There are shows all over town at all the different kinds of show venues for gatherings of all the great and the new songwriters.
I have an all access pass, so I can go to any show that I want. This is going to be so much fun! Plus I get to see one of my Facebook friends, Wendy, while I’m in town. This is going to be a great week!

The little furry critter that is our weather expert has emerged from his hole in the ground and been spooked by his shadow. So we have at least 6 more weeks of winter coming.
I have to wonder if this groundhog in Pennsylvania really speaks for the whole country or perhaps just the mid Atlantic states and points north, like New England, where more winter might be a little more easy to predict? I don’t expect the weather in Pennsylvania to be very similar to the weather down here. But then again, winter is winter. So I guess we’ll see what we get.

My dad is a great guy. He works too much and plays hard. I’m glad that I “take after” him, except for the work too much part. I should back off a little from those long hours and make more time for family and friends.

Today we all gathered at my mom’s house and had a big dinner. All her kids pitched in some money to buy her one big gift – a new refrigerator. We know she has been wanting something new for the kitchen, as much as she loves to cook.
It was kind of fun to watch my brother slowly drive up her gravel driveway with the big new refrigerator in the back of his truck. My sister in law had made up a huge pink bow and taped it on the front door to make it look gift wrapped.
It doesn’t sound like a very sexy gift, but my mom was thrilled and completely surprised. So mother’s day was a hit at my mom’s house this year.

I hope you have a Hoppy Easter, today. If the Easter Bunny finds your house, save some candy for me! I miss having little kids around to hunt for Easter Eggs and share their candies.
