The warmer weather has got my itching to do some heavy duty cleaning. I love spring cleaning – I change out the bed linens and the curtains in the bedroom and living room, put out different pillows, and new placemats on the table. Just these little touches plus a deep cleaning in each room makes my home looks and feel so nice and fresh!

We still have three CSI shows and I end up watching them here and there. I’m not really a big fan of any of them, although I do favor the original one based in Las Vegas over the other two.
I’m surprised that they stopped at three shows. I was really hoping for a western themed CSI – like Dallas or even Oklahoma City. And I think they could do one based in New Orleans, too. That would give us a different CSI for each night of the work week.

My darling neighbor is Evelyn Dewars. I have known Miss Evelyn for probably 20 plus years. She has always been next door as long as I can remember. so imagine my surprise when we bumped into each other at the gas station and she mentioned something in her blog. I didn’t eve know she was writing a blog! So I thought it would be nice to mention Miss Evelyn in my blog and see if she likes that.

Have you noticed how none of the grocery stores keep pens at the check out counter any more? They have a stylus for using the credit card machine and they don’t want you to write a check any more. At my Food Lion, they take my blank check and run it through their register. Then they give me back the check! It makes to sense to even write the check out if they are going to give it back to you!

The little furry critter that is our weather expert has emerged from his hole in the ground and been spooked by his shadow. So we have at least 6 more weeks of winter coming.
I have to wonder if this groundhog in Pennsylvania really speaks for the whole country or perhaps just the mid Atlantic states and points north, like New England, where more winter might be a little more easy to predict? I don’t expect the weather in Pennsylvania to be very similar to the weather down here. But then again, winter is winter. So I guess we’ll see what we get.

I don’t remember winter being this cold. It has been down in the 20′s and now we have freeze warnings posted at the apartment gates again. When they post freeze warnings we are supposed to open our kitchen cupboard doors and leave a little trickle of water running in the kitchen sink so that the pipes don’t freeze. I’ve never had pipes freeze before and hope I never have to deal with it. So tonight the water bill offsets the threat of frozen pipes.

Not going away on vacation this year. No one can afford it any more. So we are hanging around town looking for fun. Got any ideas?

Tonight I put a sirloin roast into a Reynolds roasting bag, along with some chopped onion and a can of mushroom soup. I sprinkled just a little garlic pepper on top of the roast before I tied up the bag and poked a couple of air vent holes in the top. Popped it into the oven at 350 degrees and left it there for an hour and half. It was cooked so nicely – lots of flavor and plenty of gravy. What an easy way to make a great roast beef.

Today we all gathered at my mom’s house and had a big dinner. All her kids pitched in some money to buy her one big gift – a new refrigerator. We know she has been wanting something new for the kitchen, as much as she loves to cook.
It was kind of fun to watch my brother slowly drive up her gravel driveway with the big new refrigerator in the back of his truck. My sister in law had made up a huge pink bow and taped it on the front door to make it look gift wrapped.
It doesn’t sound like a very sexy gift, but my mom was thrilled and completely surprised. So mother’s day was a hit at my mom’s house this year.
