• The little furry critter that is our weather expert has emerged from his hole in the ground and been spooked by his shadow. So we have at least 6 more weeks of winter coming.

I have to wonder if this groundhog in Pennsylvania really speaks for the whole country or perhaps just the mid Atlantic states and points north, like New England, where more winter might be a little more easy to predict? I don’t expect the weather in Pennsylvania to be very similar to the weather down here. But then again, winter is winter. So I guess we’ll see what we get.

I don’t remember winter being this cold. It has been down in the 20′s and now we have freeze warnings posted at the apartment gates again. When they post freeze warnings we are supposed to open our kitchen cupboard doors and leave a little trickle of water running in the kitchen sink so that the pipes don’t freeze. I’ve never had pipes freeze before and hope I never have to deal with it. So tonight the water bill offsets the threat of frozen pipes.

  • Good grief. This Letterman joke and Palin overreacting is getting ridiculous. The Chicago Tribune site calls out for Letterman to offer a formal apology. His aired apology pretty much covered it. The joke was a joke. Palin needs to get over it. Her remarks to Matt Lauer this morning were out of line and typical of a redneck getting all het up over nothing.

I’m SOOOO glad that she is not our Vice President. I hate to think that this white trash hussy could have been one heartbeat away from actually being President and shaming us all. I’m not even a political activist. But my goodness, don’t you agree that this woman and her trashy family are a train wreck?

  • Is it a joke if no one laughs? If the joke is on you and everyone laughs, is it on the person telling the joke? Or is it on you for giving the joke substance?

  • Susan Boyle knuckled under and got herself a makeover. Here is a before and after photo that I found. She says that she just went to the local village beauty shop and only paid about $50 for the cut and color. That’s less than it would cost here, so good for her!

Something was very wrong at the local gas station this morning. When I stopped by at 11:00, the door was locked and there were no lights on. They should have been open since 5:00 am, so I was very worried that something bad had happened to the nice older woman who usually works on Sundays.

Even the Sunday newspaper were left outside the door on the sidewalk, and some people had oviously been helping themselves to them. I took this photo to give it to the store manager so she could see how many papers were still there at 11 and maybe she could salvage some of that inventory.

  • Everyone is talking about poor Susan Boyle needing a makeover. She is that wonderful singer who showed up in Britain’s version of American Idol and looked so frumpy that everyone was sneering. Then she started to sing and everyone was astonished and embarrassed at themselves for being such snobs.

Now a group of smarty pants has given Susan a digital makeover with the pointed suggestion that she needs to fix her hair like this. I say, don’t do it, Susan! Stay true to yourself and don’t turn shallow like the rest of Hollywood!

This is Good Friday and a lot of people are out from school or off from work because of the Easter weekend. But the weather forecast has been really scarey today. There is the threat of tornadoes all through the South. I hope everyone I know is safe and sound today and that the weather has mercy on us. I just heard on the radio that there were several tornadoes touching down in the Nashville area and that one touched down west of Huntsville. So they are all around us today. Take care.

Our state did not vote for Obama but there were not enough red states to give McCain the win. Even though Obama won the election due to the electoral college votes, I hope he realizes that with this close an election, about half of the people that he has to lead did not vote for him and don’t want him as President. He has a lot to prove and a lot to overcome yet. I hope he can handle it.

There is a guy who writes a daily column for the online version of the daily newspaper in San Francisco. His name is Mark Morford. He is a very intelligent man with a cutting wit and I love to read his columns. I don’t always agree with him, but it is entertaining to read what he thinks about current events and issues.

Today’s column is about the remaining undecided voters for the upcoming election. It is less than 2 weeks away and he feels that everyone should have made up their minds by now. His assertion is that anyone who has not made up their mind must have very little minds with which to work. Very funny!
